Welcome to the 36th Goldsmith Festival

The 36th Goldsmith Festival will take place over the June Holiday Weekend from May 29th – May 31st 2020.

2020 THEME

With 2020 being the 250th anniversary of the publishing of Goldsmith’s great poem, “The Deserted Village” in 1770, it is appropriate that this years festival will centre on this poetic masterpiece and it’s themes. With Irish Agriculture, particularly the Beef Industry, coming under increasing pressure on both the economic and climate fronts, this years theme seeks to explore the future for the Irish beef and indeed wider food industry.

Our Theme:

“The Deserted Village”

As ‘Rural virtues leave the land’

What now for Irish Agriculture and it’s ‘Bold Peasantry’
