The 36th Goldsmith Festival due to take place over the June Holiday Weekend from May 29th – May 31st 2020
HAS BEEN CANCELLED
Due to the current emergency situation regarding Covid-19 the committee have decided to cancel this years festival.
We sincerely thank the many speakers and contributors who had agreed to take part in 2020 and we hope to see you all in 2021.
We also hope to enlarge our winter Festival in Nov 2020.
In the meantime we hope everybody stays safe and well.
With 2020 being the 250th anniversary of the publishing of Goldsmith’s great poem, “The Deserted Village” in 1770, it is appropriate that this years festival will centre on this poetic masterpiece and it’s themes. With Irish Agriculture, particularly the Beef Industry, coming under increasing pressure on both the economic and climate fronts, this years theme seeks to explore the future for the Irish beef and indeed wider food industry.
