Videos of this event are available here
The 36th Goldsmith Festival was due to take place over the June Holiday Weekend from May 29th – May 31st 2020
Due to Covid-19 the committee have decided to cancel this years festival. We sincerely thank the many speakers and contributors who had agreed to take part in 2020 and we hope to see you all in 2021.
2020 THEME
With 2020 being the 250th anniversary of the publishing of Goldsmith’s great poem, “The Deserted Village” in 1770, it is appropriate that this years festival will centre on this poetic masterpiece and it’s themes. With Irish Agriculture, particularly the Beef Industry, coming under increasing pressure on both the economic and climate fronts, this years theme seeks to explore the future for the Irish beef and indeed wider food industry.
Our Theme:
“The Deserted Village”
As ‘Rural virtues leave the land’
What now for Irish Agriculture and it’s ‘Bold Peasantry’
